Sport TV – Encouraging statistic boosts Spurs’ Premier League title bid

Sky Sports commentator and columnist Martin Tyler has revealed a stat that gives Tottenham Hotspur hope in their push for Premier League glory  Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit five points adrift of Liverpool and Manchester City, having a game in hand over the latter, and many have been swift to rule out their chances in the title race  However, the Lilywhites continue to secure wins, tasting victory in each of their last three Premier League matches, and have kept pace with the leading clubs in the standings – so there is certainly a chance they could end their long wait for league glory  It will not be easy though as Tottenham have the most difficult run-in on paper and they still have to face off against both Liverpool and City before the end of the campaign    Tottenham have already lost six Premier League games this season, which may seem like a figure that is too high for a title hopeful, but Martin Tyler has provided some encouragement to the north London side  “Looking back through the history books, Mauricio Pochettino's side could in theory still lose again this season and be crowned champions, as Blackburn Rovers did in the 1994/95 campaign,” he wrote for Sky Sports  “On that occasion, the last 42-game Premier League season, Blackburn suffered seven defeats and still won the league by a point from Manchester United, who themselves lost six times on their way to being crowned champions in 1993, 1996 and 2001  “Meanwhile, the likes of Arsenal (1998), Chelsea (2010) and Man City (2014) have also all been beaten on six occasions and gone on to lift the Premier League ”    Keep up to date with the latest Tottenham Hotspur news, features and exclusives from football london via our free WhatsApp service   Text NEWS to 07776197989 and then add the number to your phone contacts book as spurs dot london (case sensitive, with spaces) to receive daily updates and breaking news from Alasdair Gold and the team on Spurs   Your phone number won't be shared with any other members of the group
