The victim was rushed to a central London hospital after the attack, which unfolded in Woodford Green just before midnight  Police were scrambled to Malvern Driveat about 1110pm to "reports of a shooting"  One neighbour said the house was formerly lived in by Mr Kane, who now rents it out after moving   A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers, armed police and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man in his forties suffering from gunshot injuries  "He has been taken to a central London hospital where he remains in a critical condition  "No arrests have been made

Enquires continue" The property is listed on Land Registry as being owned by Mr Kane  "I did his garden and they had a child a few years ago so they moved up north and they rented the house out to these guys," the neighbour told the Ilford Recorder  "Everyone is in shock "Things like this don't happen around here Luckily no one was caught in the crossfire, particularly as [the tenant's] partner was in the house " Another resident said the victim had been shot in the "throat" and that the attack was "targeted"    "A guy had gone around the back, shot through the windows at the back – it's like a conservatory, like six times and caught him in the throat  "I think a car was waiting for him at the other side It's definitely targeted

" The resident, who had lived on the street for 20 years, added: "We thought he was going to die  "It didn't look good They were here in the ambulance for a good hour – things took a nasty turn " Daily Star Online has contacted Russell Kane's representatives for comment
